| 27th June 2011 - NICOM enhances intravenous fluid management in patients undergoing surgery/critical care | |
Enhanced recovery/fluid optimisation is a hot topic at the moment and PROACT Medical are pleased to offer a validated and safe solution for all patients from A&E to Theatre, ITU, HDU and Surgical Wards. By using the Cheetah NICOM (non-invasive cardiac output monitor) from PROACT in the ward areas, the nursing staff that have been trained by PROACT Medical Specialists can ensure that fluid optimisation that was started in the Theatres continues during the crucial post-op surgical period thus helping to assist a swift recovery. Discharge from hospital may be possible days earlier, saving huge sums from already stretched hospital budgets. In the UK, Dr David P Coates, Consultant Anaesthetist in Bristol has stated that, “Evidence now seems clear that clinical management and outcomes can be improved by guided volume optimisation. My pragmatic goal is to achieve this using a truly non-invasive technique that minimises observer bias. My experience with Bioreactance technology has demonstrated to me its advantage over Doppler methods that do not facilitate the straightforward continuation of measurement after surgery in the recovery room and beyond.” The Cheetah NICOM system offers the clinician real-time haemodynamic insight costing from as little at £19.50 per patient and can be used on both conscious and unconscious patients to equal effect. The unit is compact and easy to use with four sensors applied to the chest. For further information or to arrange a visit from our NICOM Clinical Product Specialists, please call us on 01536 461981. Alternatively please visit the NICOM resource centre at www.proactmedical.co.uk/nicom for frequently asked questions or links to clinical studies.
